The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the policy-making body of the Income Tax Department, on Saturday reportedly made it clear that Aadhaar will be mandatory for the filing of Income Tax Returns or for obtaining a new PAN from July 1. The tax department will not cancel the PAN of those who do not have an Aadhaar or an Aadhaar enrolment ID as the Supreme Court on Friday had given a “partial relief” to them, CBDT said.
