Australia’s iconic Great Barrier Reef is experiencing an unprecedented mass coral bleaching for the second consecutive year. Coral reefs are diverse underwater ecosystems held together by Calcium Carbonate structures secreted by corals. When water is too warm, corals will expel the algae living in their tissues causing the coral to turn white completely and it is called as coral bleaching.
