Thirty-three coal miners have reportedly died in the Zemestan Yort mine tunnel in northern Iran on Wednesday. The miners were reportedly killed in a methane explosion inside a mile-long tunnel located 1,200 metres deep underground. According to reports, the blast was ignited by a spark after workers jump-started a locomotive engine by using an external battery.
