According to an HT report, 2016 was the most unsafe year for Indian aviation. 2016 included 32 'near miss' cases which are 40% higher than the previous maximum seen in 2013. The year also saw the highest number of pilots, 151, being suspended for violating safety protocols which are 38% higher from the previous high of 109 suspensions in 2012.
