Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia became the first unseeded player in 34 years to reach the French Open women’s singles final on Thursday. 20-year-old Ostapenko went past Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 in Thursday’s second semi-final, the day when both players were celebrating their birthday. Ostapenko will face third-seeded Simona Halep of Romania in the final on Saturday.
