An estimate shows that at least 2 lakh kidneys,1 lakh corneas, and 50,000 transplants are required annually for transplants. The Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel reportedly announced the facts at the Rajya Sabha.  She also added that 16,192 people have pledged for organ donation and registered with National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation as on August 5 this year.
