We have seen many movies in Malayalam, which portray the ill effects of social media in the society. Vikruthi deals with such a topic and is inspired from a real life incident. Directed by debutant Emcy Joseph, Vikkurthi succeeds in subtly conveying a timely message to an audience who are generally driven by the social media dynamics.

The plot revolves around two main characters - Sameer (Soubin Shahir) and Eldo (Suraj Venjarammoodu). The movie begins by simultaneously portraying the lives of these two characters. Eldho has speech and hearing impairment and is living with his family consisting of wife Elsy (Surabhi Lakshmi) and two children.

Sameer is an NRI who is very fond of letting people know about what's happening in his life through social media. The movie tells how this inquisitiveness of Sameer negatively impacts Eldo's life. Both Soubin and Suraj had performed extraordinarily well. The supporting cast also needs a special pat on their back.

Vikruthi perfectly balances emotions with humour. New comer Vincy plays Soubin's wife and has done her part well. Sudhi Koppa, Nebeesh Benson (Suraj's son), and the actress who had portrayed Soubin's mother have also handled their roles well.

Vikruthi is produced by A D Sreekumar, Ganesh Menon and Lakshmi Warrier under the banner of Cut 2 Create Pictures. The story is written by Ajeesh P Thomas and camera is cranked by Alby.

The music for Vikruthi is composed by Bijibal, and lyrics pack a satirical flavour to it (the verses are penned by Santhosh Varma and Adv. Shahul Mezhathur). Kaanumbol and Chillayile Thoomanjil are two hit tracks from the movie.

Vikruthi makes us laugh, cry and above all compels us to think many times before blindly forwarding an item through social media. The movie can make one a better person, in that sense.
