SAAHO ACTOR CONFIRMS BEING PART OF MANI RATNAM’S PONNIYIN SELVAN!

Malayalam actor-director Lal debuted as an actor in 1998-movie ‘Ormacheppu’, after directing blockbuster movies including, ‘Ram Ji Rao Speaking’, 'In Harihar Nagar’, ‘Godfather’, ‘Vietnam Colony’, along with his friend Siddique. The duo parted ways in 1993, after directing Kabooliwala. Later, Lal produced ‘Hitler’ and ‘Friends’, directed by Siddique.
After his debut as an actor, Lal did many memorable roles — ‘Ozhimiri’, ‘Thalapavu’, ‘Kaliyattam’, and many others. The actor will now do a key role in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, an adaptation of the five-part Tamil novella written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
Speaking to Behindwoods, Lal confirmed that he is part of ‘Ponniyil Selvan’. He didn’t reveal more about his role, as the actor said, he is not sure if he can speak about it now. Lal had acted in many Tamil and Telugu movies apart from Malayalam. Recently, in Malayalam, he acted in ‘Helen’ and in Telugu, he was seen along with Prabhas in ‘Saaho’.
‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies and it is jointly scripted by Mani Ratnam and 'Kaatrin Mozhi', 'Kurangu Bommai' fame actor Kumaravel. The cinematography of the movie will be done by veteran cinematographer Ravi Varman.
The movie will also see actors such as 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, R.Parthiepan and Ashwin Kakumanu.
