The Mohanlal-Vishal starrer Malayalam film Villain which was planned for Diwali release has now been postponed by a week to October 27th.
Vijay, as we know, has a huge market in Kerala and had Villain released for Diwali it would have lost a considerable number of screens Mersal. Now it is a win-win situation for both the biggies. Mersal is all set to have a massive opening in Kerala now.

Mohanlal's Villain to release for Diwali on the 19th of October. Vishal has also played a pivotal role in this Malayalam film. Vijay's Mersal would be releasing on the 18th. So Mersal would have a tough competitor at Kerala box office.
It must be noted that this is the 3rd time Vijay-Vishal films are releasing at the same time. The previous occasions were:
Pokkiri - Thaamirabharani (2007 Pongal)
Kaththi - Poojai (2014 Diwali)
