Anwar Rasheed began his career as a director with the Mammootty starrer Rajamanikyam, one of the biggest hits Malayalam cinema had ever seen. He then went on to direct films that had an embedded fun culture in it, like Mohanlal's Chota Mumbai and Mammootty's Annan Thambi. But in 2012 he directed Usthad Hotel, written by Anjali Menon, which turned out be a huge success receiving mass and critical appreciation including the National Award for Best Popular Film. He then donned the role of a producer producing blockbusters Bangalore Days and Premam under the banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainments.
After a long gap of 5 years, Anwar Rasheed is all set to direct a film with Fahadh Faasil in the lead. The film titled as 'Trans' has been written by Vincent Vadakkan and will be produced by Anwar himself. The specialties of the film are that Amal Neerad will crank the camera for it whilst Resul Pookutty will handle the sound designs. The cast, other than Fahadh, is yet to be finalised for the film which will be shot mainly at Kanyakumari, Nagarcoil and Kochi and is expected to release by April 2018.
