Sarbjit is director Omung Kumar’s account of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was falsely convicted by the Pakistani Government for the 1990 Lahore serial blasts that killed 14 people. The main cast includes Randeep Hooda as Sarabjit Singh, Aishwarya Rai as his sister, Dalbir Kaur and Richa Chadda as his wife, Sukhpreet. Darshan Kumaar, Ankita Shrivastav, Shiwani Saini and Ankur Bhatia play other important roles. The film features songs composed by various artists such as Amaal Malik, Jeet Ganguly, Tanishk Bagchi among others. Cinematography done by Kiran Deohans was edited and processed by Rajesh Pandey for this film.

The plot narrates the poignant portion of Sarabjit's misstep to prison life besides also talking about the better half of his life as a farmer living with his wife and family. Right from the start, it highlights the role of Sarabjit's sister in his life and her struggle to bring him back to India. The plot is aptly set up without any exaggerations.

Where is the glory for a falsely framed soul that departed in the clutches of torture and misfortune? Where else but in a carefully detailed narration! Credits to the director for scripting Sarbjit's. As far as the movie is concerned, it flows smoothly without slowing down except momentarily in the second half. Comparatively, the second half of the film features crucial conversations which may not concern the average movie goer.

Excellence on part of Randeep in bringing Sarabjit to life deserves gold. Aishwarya Rai lends all her expertise in doing justice to the role of his sister. Together their display of the emotional tide between the two siblings brings tears at certain instances. Richa Chadda has given flawless performance as Sarabjit's wife.

Kiran Deohans' knack at handling the camera, highlighting the scenes shot with Sarabjit locked inside a wooden box, is outstanding. The various songs that feature in the movie have good delivery.

Overall Sarbjit has released the emotions of all concerned people, and as the movie emphasizes at various points, we too belong to that list of concerned people. And as long as the viewer is a fan of such emotions, the movie will work from beginning to end.

Verdict: Yet another real life saga that deserves our time
