Jolly LLB 2 is the next installment in the hit courtroom drama series Jolly LLB which had Arshad Warsi playing the lead. The film is directed by Subhash Kapoor and this time it has Akshay Kumar playing a Lawyer. Akshay Kumar is known for his high intensity action scenes but this being a courtroom drama has him playing an ordinary lawyer. Jolly LLB 2 starts off with Akshay Kumar who plays an innocent lawyer who never gets things right. His wife, played by Huma Qureshi and his son are supportive of him and he aspires to make it big one day. However, he is playful about his profession and does not take it up seriously.

The core plot is the rise of a timid man trying to solve a serious case which has an experienced lawyer on the other end. But the sub-plot which deals with Sayani Gupta and her husband in the flashback portions gives you the feeling we are in for some really good engagement and that an investigation of high standards is what we are going to witness. This sub plot which is about 20 minutes long is amazing and Sayani has got into the skin of the character of a widow.

Akshay Kumar’s energy is a big plus point as it adds the required adrenaline in the talkie portions.His natural acting is commendable and he being an action hero has underplayed this character well. The background score by Vishal Khurana is the biggest bonus that Jolly LLB 2 has got. It elevates every emotional scene and traps you when it seems like you are losing attention.

Director Subhash has heavily banked on comedy to grip the audiences and even the judge of the court is funny at times. But, this has hindered the pace of the film and a few comical moments could have been avoided to carry the tension forward. For instance, even the reveal in the climax starts off in a funny manner which loosens the belt and leaves you a little less satisfied than you could have been if for a tighter screenplay.

The holi song looks unnecessary but did not disturb the audiences too much as an intense scene follows up to cover for the lost moment. A few scenes seem very well written and a special mention to the midnight court scene which was a surprise out of the blue for the watchers.

Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 does not disappoint you as it has minimal moments that would distract you. However, it does not give you the goosebumps too often and as an entire movie, it seems a little loosely packed.
