What is it about?
Jab Harry Met Sejal is one of the most anticipated films of the year and the film has finally hit the screens today. Most of us must be excited to see Shah Rukh Khan in director Imtiaz Ali's story and to know, how worthy it is? Well, the movie is a typical Imtiaz Ali film and he brings the best of romanticness in Shah Rukh in this film. SRK who plays a tourist guide meets Sejal (Anushka Sharma) who comes to Europe for a holiday. Sejal who misses her engagement ring extends her vacation in Europe and decides to stay there until she finds the ring. Shah Rukh as a guide accompanies her to all the places in Europe to find her ring. During the course of travel, do they fall in love?, With just a few weeks left for Anushka's wedding, does she call off her wedding and propose to SRK or she gets back to India becomes the plot of the film.

What makes the film?

Shah Rukh who is a guide in Europe plays a flirtish character until he meets Sejal. While Sejal who is typically a traditional Indian girl finds something changing within her and she finds herself attracted to Shah Rukh. Imtiaz brings convincible dialogues in the film which builds a beautiful romantic chemistry between the both. Each frame is filled with lots of love, which will surely remind Shah Rukh's 90's romantic films to his hardcore fans. The film's love track goes hand in hand with some exotic locations of Europe which are so apt to see it onscreen. Will Sejal and Shah Rukh Khan get married? Will they propose each other becomes the climax of the film!

What didn't work?

Jab Harry Met Sejal is a typical Imtiaz Ali film, which normally does not have a strong content but the director scores in dialogues and screenplay and wins people's, heart. But, in JHMS, the film's plot is all about Anushka hunting for her lost engagement ring and how she falls in love with Shah Rukh Khan. The weak storyline may not convince many and also the film is all about the two, there is no other character apart from a very few who make their presence for hardly few minutes on the screen. This means the screenplay demanded impactful dialogues consistently without any flaws and better engagement for the audiences to hold their excitement till the climax of the film. But, unfortunately, the film does not meet the expectation, and there are no guesses in the film or anything surprising in the predictable screenplay which becomes another significant setback of the film.

What worked?

K.U. Mohanan's cinematography and Pritam's songs are the biggest positives of the film. Mohanan's visuals are a delightful and sure makes the film to be one of the best Bollywood films to be shot in Europe. Hitesh Sonik's background scores are convincible which has a mix of desi and contemporary music. Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka's chemistry has worked well on most of the scenes which are another positive of the film.

Well?

Jab Harry Met Sejal is a slow romantic film from Imtiaz Ali who does not bring anything new in this romantic drama. The film is sure to be a treat for SRK's hardcore fans who would be excited to see the actor don full fledged lover boy role.
