What is it about?

Hindi Medium talks about how English medium schools dominate the society and how reputed schools take commercial benefits from desperate parents who wish their kids to study in these schools. Raj Batra (Irrfan Khan) and Mita(Saba) who play the lead in the film come from a poor background but earn a name and fame in their later stages of life through their sheer hard work. Despite becoming rich, the couple faces humiliation in the upper-class society because of their poor English communication. Mita then decides to put her daughter in Delhi's most prestigious school as she does not want her daughter to face such humiliations in her future. Raj Batra is a wonderful hubby who always makes his wife's wish come true. He then decides to send his daughter to Delhi's best school. And, we all know how a few reputed schools evaluate admissions, it is based on parent's education and both Mita and Raj is not educated. Under this circumstance, what happens next builds the plot of the film.

What doesn't work?

Hindi Medium does not have too many setbacks. The film talks about social issues that we commonly read in the news every day. So, at one point in time, the film is pretty predictable, and that becomes the major setback of the film.

What worked?

Irrfan Khan's acting and his sensible questions that every individual has thought about have worked well.  Saket Chaudhary's direction and the way he had handled the subject with some hard hitting relevance to show how Right to Education Act is utilized by rich people in the society is sure to be applauded.

Well?

Raj and Mita perfectly represent large Indian parents who at one point do everything possible to obtain a seat from best schools and then realize the consequences of doing so later.
