The
movie which was announced a year back
(a few days after A.R.Rahman bagged his
Oscar) grabbed my attention for two things.
The title of the movie which was taken
from the lyrics of my favorite A.R.Rahman
song. That particular line always gave
me some kind of a high. Second, teaser
pictures of Trisha. With those crisp saris
and that subtle smile, she is still donning
my desktop.
And now, after watching this movie, I
feel there is more to this film than just
A.R.Rahman. I find it frustrating when
few of my friends (very few) say that
technically and story-wise, they did not
find anything extraordinary. But why should
it be extraordinary? This is a very simple
love story told mostly through close-ups,
music and dialogues. There is absolutely
no need of a technological extravaganza.
In fact, I am happy that Gautham Menon
stuck to a linear narration.
It is a sin to talk about A.R.Rahman’s
music. I really want to have a peek into
his mind. Did he really feel the way how
a guy would feel when his girl confessed
her love to him? How could he score the
music for the song “Vinnaithaandi
Varuvaayaa”? It is unbelievable!
Jessie's
confused character, her voice (Chinmayi),
her dress, hairstyle, her smile are simply
brilliant. I am becoming like the second
Prashanth in the movie ‘Jeans’.
I simply can’t come to terms that
‘Jessie’ is not there, actually.
