Varuvaayaa was one movie high on expectations,
but taking into consideration Gautham's
PKMC's flop, felt that this one would
also meet those lines for the strange
casting of Silambarasan for this role.
As all of us know now that the casting
was more than perfect- a man failed in
his first love. Also least expected Trisha
to emote so well be it a subtle smile
or anger. She just said in a recent interview
that Gautham allowed to be herself on
the sets and so. Dear all future directors
please do so if Trisha is your leading
lady!
The storyline needless to say is a roller
coaster of emotions, which most of us
have gone through - being in love. The
pain of separation even for a few days,
the train travel, secret hangouts, texting,
not picking up calls, switch offs etc
etc - every frame is relatable to people
who are in love...this I mean even people
who have gone through all this and either
got married or got married to someone
else...especially women. Jessy is a portrayal
of most of the confused women in love
who have the courage to stop the marriage
they did not want and at the same time
end up succumbing to family pressure.
So if anyone says if the movie's target
is the youth, they got it all wrong....you
can feel that nostalgia in the air when
couples with 2 kids are also watching
this movie! Again hats off to the crew
for choosing the anti-climax (if I can
say so!) since every person who has even
failed in love can relate to his/her state.

Cinematography,
aesthetics and ambience (which Gautham credited his
2 lady asst directors), music by A.R.Rahman all need
special mention. A.R.R takes music to a different
level in 'Aromale'- a musical treat! If any woman
is that sexy and fresh...all credits should go to
Nalini Sriram...may be she needs to start her line
of clothes collections soon. It’s the urbane,
classy metro-sexual woman of South India, we get to
see onscreen.
