I sat aghast as Muran unraveled. It wasn't a typical commercial potboiler or one of the best thrillers, but an all-together different take. Touted to be a rehash of Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train - Muran clearly paved way for a director who is willing to step outside the world of Tamil movies with clichéd characters and undeveloped plots. The By - Chance - To - Fate storyline and able actors to back-up enthralled me hugely. I was not at all disappointed with the story but more with the audience. They didn’t seem to encourage a good movie, instead looking for some popcorn-escapism, an item song and fight to add on with. Maybe that's the reason low-budgets don't get much noticed. Prasanna and Cheran get the standing ovation. Their gelling with their respective characters of Arjun and Nandha is taut. The Girls??? Nothing great to beat about except for the character of Lavanya that showed promise. The movie could've shortened the suspense factor, as it was a little longer - maybe the director wanted the audience to keep guessing........Whatever maybe the reason Muran deserves a "hats-off" for bringing out a story that looks refreshing and which doesn't add to the list of "ewwww" movies that have been releasing for quite sometime now.
