Mysskin's
Nandhalala Vs Takeshi Kitano's Kikujiro |
|
I
know critics and section of
movie-goers are waiting for
Nandhalala after a successful
Anjaathe by Mysskin who appears
to be picking up offbeat subjects
with a striking reality which
many directors may not venture
into (things of course keep
changing).
I couldn’t miss the striking
similarity of NANDHALALA in
terms of visuals, storyline
and also importance on music
with a Japanese Movie named
"Kikujiro" released
in 1999.
The movie directed and
acted by "Beat Takeshi"
had won many awards and reviews
across film festivals. It is
a story of a young boy and an
irresponsible adult searching
for their respective mothers
with the story and screenplay
tightly knitted with sad as
well as easy atmosphere. |

The movie's
music was spectacular and much
talked about from a Japanese
composer Joe Hisaishi with an
excellent violin and piano...I
am hearing that Ilayaraja has
been spending loads of effort
and there is a silence filled
scene with Ilayaraja’s
music during the last 45 minutes.
I am sure he must have heard
of Joe Hisaishi.
With the world cinema getting
exposure to every common man
through media, internet and
television i do not think Mysskin
will have any reason to hide
the inspiration and adaptation
to Kikujiro if that is where
the plot came from. Mysskin
seems to be one different breed
of director who are keen to
bring the experiences in line
with people like Bala, Selvaraghavan
etc. Will wait and see what
Nandhalala has to offer...
