Sometimes you land in theatre with minimum expectation and you are drowned in a good movie. Mounaguru will belong to that category.
Dialogues are a big plus for this movie. No wonder most of the TV trailers are making impact and raising the interest level to watch the movie. Most of the characters have been etched out extremely well and will linger for some time. Marimuthi’s role as Assistant commissioner and Palaniammal’s role in investigating the crime are good examples of strong characters. For a change, even the film heroine is sensible enough and comes across naturally. Mahesh’s camera needs to be mentioned and it’s good to know what a good camera can do to a script, Yes – it elevates the film to a different level.
Interestingly, the plot is thrown open to the audience and now how the main character “Karunakaran” moves around to get out of it is the remaining story and the knots are untied in a neat way without losing the central plot and suspense associated with it.
What I liked in the script - is the so called ‘film hero’ is hapless and he is not able to do anything to come out unscathed from all his difficulties thrust on him by the group that should protect the citizens!! Even Palaniammal who is known for her integrity is helpless and not able to do help Karunakaran and thus he continues to have challenges. This also reflects the current state of affairs in our society. Well made movie with lot of intensity. Worth watching. Sriram advsriram@gmail.com
