YUDHAM SEI: This film cant be just reviewed in a paragraph, in fact it is the best Tamil film I have ever seen. Be it Chithiram Pesudhadi or Anjaadhe or Nandhalala, every film from this director is uniquely different in plot, shots and music and so does this film. SPECIAL FEATURES: 1.No hero intro song 2.No duet song 3.No comedy track 4.No childhood love flashback track 5.No naval show in the item song too 6.No foreign locations 7.No sets CAST: Cheran : Tailor made for the CBCID role, the best performance from the actor-turned director in his career. Lakshmi Ramakrishnan: What a performance from this actress who was so far essaying hero's mom role. Her role in this film is stunning; her expressions when she see her daughter hanging from the fan and the stunts in the climax can get her awards. Jayaprakash: A powerful performance from him once again. Tthe way he delivers the dialogues and emotes prove that he is a seasoned character artist in Kollywood. Others: Y.G Mahendran, Yugendran, Manicka Vinayagam have played their roles well. CINEMATOGRAPHY: The shots by the newcomer Sathya are so poetic. To mention a few: 1.Once Jayaprakash finds the mischief of the peep show culprits, a spider spinning its web is captured and it sinks well with the situation of the scene. 2.In the police station once the police narrates the flash back, the lensman has created a visual surprise. 3. The action sequence in the climax and before the interval. 4. The camera angle when the girl's suicide is shown. 5. Fishes waving their fins in the very next shot after the girl's suicide For the first time Mysskin has teamed up with a new cinematographer. He renames a character in the film as Mahesh Muthuswamy, the lenseman of his first 3 films. This shows his respect for the technicians. MUSIC: Music is again by a newcomer KAY. His BGMs gears up the thrill element. The BGM in the underground car parking scene is simply awesome. There is only one song in the film and director Ameer-Neethu Chandra's appearance electrifies the "kanni theevu" song. STORY: Usual story seen many times in Tamil cinema even now a same kind of story in Easan. SCREENPLAY: This is where Mysskin creates a difference. This film has loads of twists and may be a twist in Tamil cinema itself DIALOGUES: Mysskin excels in dialogues too There are only few dialogues but sharp. to mention a few: 1.Unga kolandhayoda kolandha pethukara uruppa sedhachuttanga 2.Indha police station la neraya kuppai iruku 3.Moola kamiya irukara neengale ivalo thappu panrappa, moolaya adhigama vechurukra naanga thappu panna epdi irukum. 4. Ungalukkum ippadi oru thangachi irundhu, avala ipdi pannirundha, ungalukku epdi irukum? 5. Nan bible la vara Judas maari kaati kodukala;nan eppavume endha devadhaigaloda visuvasi. kaatikodukamaten. DIRECTION: This is Mysskin's fourth attempt in his process of purifying and redefining Tamil cinema. He is just 4 films old. But his shots and scenes don’t look so. In the climax the emotional war between Lakshmi Ramakrishnan and Cheran's sister is one example. He has once again proved that he is the most promising young director. As usual this film is a branded Mysskin film with his low angle shots, long distance shots and yellow saree item number. The director should be appreciated for putting the cinematographer's name just before the end shot fades. The director's name is the end of the end credits. HATS OFF !! PRODUCTION: AGS entertainment's Kalpathi and bros have always been presenting films of different themes to Tamil audience. This is the best film from their house, a low budget film that carries a heavy content. Well all these things have made "YUDHAM SEI" the best emotional crime thriller I have ever seen. This film is Mysskin's feast for the hungry movie lovers of Tamil cinema!! Thanks you Mysskin!! THUMBS UP for the cast and crew of this film. This film deserves standing ovation!! MY RATING:4.8/5 VERDICT: Emotional war Arun Guhan Senthil arunguhan91@gmail.com
