Aishwarya Rai has taken every movie bastion by storm and brought laurels to Indian cinema in a very short span of time. The doe-eyed beauty personified the aspirations of a young nation with hope for several women to achieve fame and success. Her success journey began with the Miss World title in 1994. Having modeled with Aamir for Pepsi, she was the natural choice for endorsements. But, she was determined to scale greater heights and movies provided her the right platform.
 
she has come a long way since her Iruvar and Jeans days. She chose to play roles which projected her beauty and showed her as a woman trapped in impossible circumstances. She has stayed away from purely glamorous roles. Her acting skills are immense as we saw in Hum Dil De chuke sanam and Devdas. As Paro in Devdas, she brought out the vulnerability with striking realism. She has also worked in cross-over films like Bride and Prejudice and Mistress of Spices.
  She has also remained a socially conscious artiste and done several public service broadcasts. She has received several awards, the most recent one being the Commonwealth Award for the most influential Young achiever.

She has been going through a tough time in her personal life with the Salman Khan affair and the rumors about her relationship with Vivek Oberoi.
Yet she retains the simple values of an Indian woman although she remains the most popular star amongst movie buffs around the world.
