Usha Uthup is the evergreen
voice of Indipop. She has over three decades
of experience in film music. She is fondly
referred to as Didi. She has sung in thirteen
Indian languages and eight foreign languages.
She started her career in 1969 and recently
she has sung a song in the movie June
R .
She has also had no formal training in music.
Her inspirations are the Sami sisters, her
elder sisters and
Harry
Belafonte. Her robust voice has added charm
to innumerable songs in many languages. She
is also very effervescent in stage shows and
her legion of fans ranges from six to sixty.
She is one of the first singers to bring a new
dimension to singing for cabarets. Her impeccable
attire including Kanjeevaram silks, kohl and
jasmine strings add to her appeal. Her motto
in life is to move on with singing till her
last breath.
