There
is an impression that
film stars are self-absorbed
and do not care much
for the sufferings of
others. Although they
do give a lot of money
for charity, their association
with noble causes stops
just
there. A notable exception
has been the talented
Revathy, who is actively
involved in the working
of Banyan, an NGO for
the mentally challenged
and destitute women.
Surya also made an appearance
at the Apollo Hospital
in Chennai on the Roses
Day. This day is observed
to motivate the cancer
patients. Surya
distributed roses individually
to the patients in the
cancer ward and spent
some time with them.
He said that it was
indeed heartening to
be amongst such survivors.
He was happy to be personally
present rather than
remain content with
sending money. Similarly,
actress Kushboo also
distributed roses and
conducted an impromptu
quiz show for the inmates.
