The dark and lanky Dhanush made his debut in Thulluvadho ilamai. After the fairy-tale success of the film, he reached dizzying

heights with Kadhal kondein, Thiruda Thirudi and Pudukkottaiyilirindhu Saravanan. Considering the popularity of the unconventional hero, it is reported that he was paid Rs. 4 crores for Pudukkottai. The bubble burst and his subsequent films like Sullan and Devadaiyai kandein bit the dust. He also went out of the producers’ radar. Now, he is pegging his hopes on Balu Mahendra’s Adhu Oru Kanaa Kaalam. He received just Rs. 1.5 crores for this film. The other film which is under production is Puduppettai. Dhanush needs these two films to do well in order to reclaim his star status.
