Ramarajan was hailed as the ultimate hero for village subjects. His simplicity and good timing sense in action and

comedy brought us several hit films like Karagattakkaran, Enga ooru pattukkaran, Villuppattukkaran etc. Karagattakaran had excellent comedy by Koundamani and Senthil. He was also the director of many films. Then, he contested elections and became the Lok Sabha MP from Tiruchendur. With the change in audience tastes, he lost film opportunities. He also weathered some storms in his personal life. Now, after a long hiatus, he is the hero in a film titled Madurai Thangam to be produced by Olympic Cinema Company. Heroine is a newcomer. Senthil, Kovai Sarala, Alex, Vadivelu, Thandapani, Muthukkalai and many others are in the cast. Ravindar is the director. He was the cinematographer for several films including Chinna Thambi.
