THE LEGEND OF TARZAN MOVIE REVIEW CLICK TO RATE THE MOVIE

Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ indelible fictitious character Tarzan, here comes another American action adventure film - The Legend Of Tarzan jointly written by Adam Cozad and Craig while Harry Potter fame David Yates heads the direction department.

Tarzan, the archetypal feral child who is raised in the African jungles by apes falls in love with a beautiful young girl Jane Porter who makes Tarzan into a civilized man called John Clayton and they both end up in wedlock. The episode of Tarzan is set up around 1880’s during the colonization of the Congo by Belgian King. After being accustomed to the life in London, Tarzan is called back to his jungle by the Congo Free State for a help which eventually makes him return to the wild because of the evil Belgian Captain Leon Rom. Yeah, it’s the same old concept, Tarzan saving his jungle. But how different is this version compared to the ones released earlier?

Technically the film is definitely above all his predecessors. Henry Braham’s superlative camera magic has given a facelift to the overall product. It is a film that has been completely shot in the forest, but you would find something interesting in every passing frame.  Music is another backbone which goes hand in hand with the visuals.

Alexander Skarsgård could debatably be the best Tarzan of the decade. His insane level of dieting had earned him this role but one must say he has done full justice to the character. A handsomely impressive show by Alexander, especially in the stunt sequence. The action portions are the major highpoints of the film, especially the climax fight which is grand and breathtaking to watch.

Christoph Waltz is tailor made to play a baddie. Has he ever disappointed us while asked to play an antagonist? The answer is no. Though he has nothing new to offer here as it is pretty much a recycle of what he has done in the recent past, he still looks apt for the role. The Australian born Margot Robbie plays Tarzan’s wife here.  She looks gorgeous on screen and provides what is expected out of her.

On the downside, the emotions don’t connect with you. The story travels back and forth but the flashback portion only hinders the progress of the film and does nothing more than that. The screenplay could have been better. The computer generated gorillas and other animals look so lively on screen. It’s unavoidable for people to compare this flick to the recently released Jungle Book. But for people who expect a Jungle Book, this one might be a disappointment but for Tarzan fans, this is possibly the best Tarzan film that you would have watched in recent times.
