Anjaana
Anjaani, directed by Siddharth Anand of
Salaam Namaste and Bachna Ae Haseeno fame,
is one of the eagerly awaited films in
the second half of the year. National
award winner Priyanka Chopra teams up
with Ranbir Kapoor, this time to dance
and romance in an Anjaani land. Music
for Anjaani Anjaani has been scored by
Vishal & Shekhar who have given some
slick and stylish music in the recent
past.
Anjaana Anjaani...
Lyrics : Neelesh Mishra
Vocals: Nikhil
D'Souza, Monali Thakur
Guitar notes welcome you to know about
Anjaana and Anjaani's kahaani. Soon, with
the brass drums belting in the background,
you can't help but shake your head to
the beats. Use of instruments and sounds
of the mid 80's in selected interludes
make the song a must-listen

with Nikhil and Monali Thakur's
young and fresh voices bring all the pizzaz to this
foot tapping number. Sprinkled with a heavy dose of
English words, this song sets the tone for rest of
the album. Good one.
Hairat...
Lyrics : Vishal Dadlani
Vocals: Lucky
Ali
The introduction of Hairat mellows you down a little
only to be surprised by the heavy sounds of the electronic
guitar. And we welcome Lucky Ali after a short gap.
This gifted singer never fails to grab attention.
Only with his voice though! Vishal's rock-base music,
in some places seems out of place but because of the
fantastic Lucky Ali, the song wins who has you speechless
with his silky voice. Going by the visuals of the
trailer for this song, this one's surely a chartbuster.
Easily the pick of the album.
Aas Pas Hai Khuda...
Lyrics : Neelesh
Vocals: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shruthi
Pathak
Some singers are born gifted with talent. So much
that they can sing without an ounce of effort. So
does Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. His deep voice reaches
your soul and with chorus and a soft rock setup, he
effortlessly brings life to Aaj Pas hai Khuda. With
lyrics that is spiritual and romantic touch to it,
the songs gels with you. With Shruthi Pathak for company
in the unplugged version, you experience a different
dimension to the same version.
Tumse
hi Tumse...
Lyrics : Caralisa Monteiro
Vocals: Shekhar
Ravijani, Caralisa Monteiro
After a couple of brilliant melodies, we return to
the soft beats and guitar strums of Tume hi tumse.
Shekhar and Caralisa (who has penned the English lyrics
too) give the song what it requires which otherwise
resembles R&B's of the west. Worth a listen but
certainly lacks the mood.
Tujhe
Bhula Diya...
Lyrics : Vishal Dadlani, Kumaar
Vocals: Shekhar
Ravijani, Shruthi Pathak, Mohit Chauhan
The first 90 seconds of the songs takes you into a
completely different world. You feel and emote with
Mohit whose soul-searching voice just mesmerizes you.
A totally different experiment with the Qawali interludes
may or may not be liked but Mohit just tugs at your
heart with his magical rendition. The remix version
does not give you the same feel as it moves into trance
mode and bears no additional value. The original song
is fantastic and rings in your ears for a long time.
I
feel good...
Lyrics : Kausar Munir
Vocals: Vishal,
Shilpa Rao
Slow beats and the voices of Vishal and Shilpa auger
well for the first few seconds just to be blown away
by the bass guitar like going down on a rollercoaster.
A romantic number, this one lacks the pep and zing
that their counterparts have. The music with the English
lyrics is reminiscent to many pop albums that we have
already heard.
The next song with the same pair and lyrics has a
slightly softer feel to it and works better than the
first.
Verdict:
Vishal - Shekhar have come up with another winner
with Anjaana Anjaani. The songs have different hues
to them and work brilliantly. One can feel that this
is a complete album with varying emotions from the
start to the end. The songs are peppy, zestful, mush
and haunting. A few songs definitely can top the charts
and have a definite replay value. |
