Himesh
takes one more shot at the box-office
in an effort to get all his
loyal fans visit the theaters
one more time to check if he
gets it right this time around.
And with some popular music
and an interesting trailer,
it looked Himesh will hit it
this time.
Radio started off with lot of
promise and the episodic style
of presentation did impress
too. But fifteen minutes into
the story of the protagonist,
who with so much pride accepts
himself to be the most confused
person in the phase of the earth,
we are quite sure that the director
and the script writer might
just end up snatching that honor
from Himesh.
Vivan (Himesh) is a divorced
RJ who is afraid of a relationship
after his previous bad experience
with Pooja (Sonal Segal). He
meets the bubbly Shanaya (Shehnaaz)
whose encouragement slowly changes
Vivan's life for the better
and at the same time complicates
it. Shanaya gives an idea of
a radio show to help Vivan but
that leads Shanaya's family
to believe that they are in
a relationship. |

Vivan's confusion in life and relationship
pushes Shanaya to sacrifice her love for
Pooja. Does Vivan finally come out of his
confusion? Does Pooja get a second chance?
What will happen to Shanaya? What will happen
to us after watching the movie? Several
questions and its getting a little confused,
or is it that confusing?
To start off, Ishaan Trivedi is a director
with immense potential and promise but somehow
he misses the bus again in the middle. There
are flashes of brilliance like the encounter
scene where Shanaya's father asks Himesh
to come for lunch, or Shanaya's mindset
being expressed via Facebook scraps or Pooja's
talk with Himesh over the phone when she
is drunk or the first time Himesh tries
to fix the dish (it gets repeated later
on several times and tests our patience).
With a decent first half, the second half
falls flat with a half baked ending too.
Technically the movie is just about ok,
with an impressive camera work by Longines
Fernandes, mediocre editing with unimpressive
episodic cuts and several scenes ending
abruptly. Music director Himesh impresses
hands down with several songs lingering
in our minds several hours since the movie
ended. 'Teri meri Dosti ka', 'Rafa dafa'
or 'Mann ka Radio' are impressive but a
song every 5 minutes does put you off a
little bit.
Himesh Reshamiya has improved for sure but
still looks like a dead duck in all the
emotional scenes, but is not that bad in
comedy sequences. But overall, a performance
that can be called bad but a marked improvement
from Himesh's earlier ventures for sure.
Shehnaaz is cute and bubbly but falls little
bit in the emotional sequences but still
an impressive performance. Sonal Segal is
brilliant in her portrayal as Pooja but
you just wish if Ishaan had sketched her
character a little better. Paresh Rawal
is in a role that is not there; an unnecessary
character which does nothing to help the
story forward. We feel sorry for the brilliant
actor being wasted in such a role.
Overall, a movie that just doesn't click.
Himesh ruins most of the emotional sequences
and in the rest of the scenes the director
is too confused to make us understand. A
good idea gone bad due to poor execution.
Verdict:
Himesh turns the wrong frequency once again.
