Selvaraghvan could not zero in on a perfect name for the movie that he was directing with Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay. Though the working title of this film was said to be Irandam Ulagam, the director had always maintained that the title would certainly undergo a change.

There were a lot of deliberations on picking the right title and during one such time Selva happened to hear the old song Mayakkam Enna Intha Mounam Enna. It was then he decided that Mayakkam Enna would be the suitable title for his flick. And finally when the promo designs came out, Selva felt that it should be Mayakkam Enna and nothing else.
