This
movie, from Tholl Paavai Theatres,
has been produced by Janaki
Sivakumar and directed by K.V.Nandhu
(an ad-film maker). It stars
Vidyaarth (a Koothuppattarai
product) along with pretty Lakshana.
The movie is supposed to be
an action-oriented entertainer.
Srikanth Deva composes the music
and we have five songs listed
in the album.
Ola Vediyae...
Vocals: Simbhu,
Suchitra
Lyrics: Perarasu
A speedy number sung with gusto
by both. A typical Srikanth
Deva piece with ethnic drums,
crude lyrics all in place! What
interests you is the brief use
of shehnai and sitar.
Thottu Thottu...
Vocals: Sadhana
Sargam
Lyrics: Viveka
The lyrics leave nothing to
imagination. Sadhana’s
childlike articulation and some
lovely santoor notes alone give
you

some
cheer. The tune is not bad, anyway. Is that
the cello you hear as a base note? Quite
a neat one!.
Aadi Maasa Kathadikka...
Vocals: Udit Narayan, Anuradha
Sriram
Lyrics: Vaali
This cheery old Ilayaraja number from ‘Paayum
Puli’ has been reworked into an energetic
monster, so to speak! Such harsh orchestration
is unnecessary. Udit sings with grooviness,
but you do miss SPB’s impish vocals.
Could hit the charts for its novelty, that’s
all!
Usurule Usurule...
Vocals: Srikanth
Deva, Sangita
Lyrics: Viveka
A hip number to set your feet tapping-heavy
bass guitars, drums, keyboard stuff and
all that! Is nice to listen to but you wish
the noise levels were down. Not a bad attempt
by Srikanth Deva.
Seema Sirukki...
Vocals: Jassie
Gift, Anitha
Lyrics: Vijaysagar
Another vigorous number in true Deva style
with no let-up in beats or music. Seems
to assault your ears. The nagaswaram adds
gaiety, as only a nagaswaram can.
Verdict:
A high-decibel, high-energy album, but the
music is oh-so-predictable. A hundred village
celebrations flash across your mind as you
listen to this, which is where this album
may find abundant use. |
