Produced
by S.P.B Charan’s Capital
Film Works, written and directed
by Shakthi. S. Rajan, this thriller
film has Prasanna, Sibiraj,
Ramya Raj, Yasmin Khan and the
delightful SPB in pivotal roles.
It appears to be the story of
a bank robbery going all wrong.
Sibiraj dons the mantle of the
villain here! This is James
Vasanthan’s first attempt
at scoring music for a thriller
film. There are five songs in
the album.
Naanayam...
Vocals: Ranjith
& Chorus
Lyrics: Dr.
Krudhaya
The title song, probably, as
it is quite short. Suitably
dramatic with plenty of pulsating
guitar sounds. The happy thoughts
of a man who has found his potential.
Naan Pogiraen..
Vocals: S.P.
Balasubramaniam, K.S. Chitra
Lyrics: Thamarai

Everything
about this Sankarabaranam-based song borders
on the ethereal - be it the lovely lyrics,
the probing flue, the twinkling notes from
the sitar and the soft rhythms. If Chitra
is expressive as ever, SPB is simply awesome,
especially the way he articulates the second
charanam. Truly irresistible, this man!
The song could hit the charts soon.
Aasa…Aasa...
Vocals: Kannan, Megha,
Sheba, Ramya & Chorus
Lyrics: James Vasanthan
A song with a hip-hop touch to it, this
one is built on the heavily whispered word
‘Aasa, Aasa’ as if to underline
the strong innermost desires that steer
and motivate us all through our lives. A
bit unusual to listen to.
Ka
Ka Ka...
Vocals: Devi
Sree Prasad, Silambarasan
Lyrics: Kavivarman
The opening speedy bit (seems inspired by
Irish dance music) sets the rhythm for the
whole song. The joyful celebration of two
young men who have come into a lot of money
(not by ethical means). The interludes are
quite energetic and foot-tapping, in keeping
with the scenario. Well sung. Could hit
the charts for some time.
Kooda Kooda...
Vocals: Sunitha
Saradhy & Chorus
Lyrics: Yugabarathy
It is the background music that is more
enjoyable in this song, with the tiniest
hint of jazz and reggae rhythms. Of course,
Sunitha has put in a flawless performance.
The song itself is about longing in love.
Seems to be a tad too long. The sitar bit
delights.
Naanayam
(Version 2)...
Vocals: Ranjith & Chorus
Lyrics: Dr. Krudhaya
The slow and sonorous guitars hint at things
gone awry from what was before. The lyrics
too reflect the same sentiments. Good guitar
work.
Verdict:
James Vasanthan has done it again - brought
out an album that does not hurt the ears
any way! His idea of exploring one raga
in each album is commendable. A decent album,
quite taut in its content. |
