Produced
by S.M. Thyagarajan and written
and directed by R. Buvanesh,
this movie stars Ramu, Booshan,
Bose Venkat and others. We have
R. Haribabu scoring music for
it. The album lists six songs.
Vinmeenai Pidicchu...
Vocals: J.K.V.
Roshni
Lyrics: R.
Buvanesh
The song of a young lady, who
seem to exult in her youthfulness.
Though the rhythms are tight,
the music seems casually put
together.
Kannale, Kannale...
Vocals: Bellie Raj
Lyrics: Muthuvijayan
This song speaks of the subtle
refining power of love on a
rather coarse male. The music,
based on Natabairavi raga with
just a touch of the big ‘ni’
of Kiravani, is pleasant. Bellie
Raj is expressionless.

Anda
Gunda...
Vocals: Velmurugan, Charulatha
Mani
Lyrics: R. Buvanesh
A ‘kuthu’ number with some very
predictable music. If at all the song creates
a light ripple, the cheery Sankarabaranam
mettu is the reason.
Enn Uyire...
Vocals: Prasanna, Deepa
Mariam
Lyrics: Gugai. M. Pughazhendi
A song of searching-mournful and high-pitched,
with some dramatic Keeravani notes on the
strings and flute. The tabla is delightful.
Prasanna is so easy on the ears and Deepa
shows confidence in her rendering, at last!
Yarodu
Yaaridam...
Vocals: Mukesh
Lyrics: R. Buvanesh
A slow, mournful number that again seems
to touch upon Kiravani raga; but the surprise
factor is Mukesh’s sensitive rendering.
Neat use of percussive instruments and flute.
Mukesh’s potential is just waiting
to be exploited.
Mayiley…O…Mayiley...
Vocals: Sri
Madhumita
Lyrics: R. Buvanesh
This number is somewhat heartening for its
pleasant musical expression and Madhumita’s
professional rendering.
Verdict:
This album hobbles around Kiravani and Natabairavi
ragas so much so that you get a feeling
of ‘déjà vu’ by
the time you come to the fourth song. Haribabu
has to shake himself out of an ‘Ilaiyaraja’
hangover if he needs to make his mark, which
we are sure he will. His adherence to melody
deserves notice. |
