It is not by any means a mean task to keep the audience under a spell for three hours and very few makers in the tinsel town like director Shankar know the art like the back of their hand. Nanban also marked the first project that Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Shankar came together. The film was the remake of Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots in Hindi which again was a silver screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s ‘Five Point Someone’. This film gave a different color to Vijay’s on screen persona and widened the fan base of the actor.
