Before Suriya and Devarajan become friends, their first encounter is a heated exchange of words as Mamooty threatens to end Rajini’s life if one of his men succumbs to the latter’s thrashing. But Rajini stands his ground firmly in the rain justifying his actions.

Another scene where Rajini and Mamooty confront the collector Arvind Samy is a highlight. When the collector calls Suriya a rowdy, Rajini explodes and as the authorities demand that they bring their activities to rest, Devaraj boldly refuses!

Both scenes are elevated to the next level by Ilayaraja’s astounding re-recording.
