There was something about Vinod, portrayed brilliantly by Dhanush in Kadhal Kondein. There were just so many layers to that wonderfully nuanced character. Vinod was part genius, part loser, part lover and part killer. Having struggled all his life to escape from a troubled, abuse-filled childhood, Vinod finds true love but the object of his affection has given her heart to another. And Vinod refused to take it lying down. Despite the ensuing mayhem, a tiny part of us rooted for him all the way to the end.
