The young man who reacts to anything
with lots of energy and vigor: that
is what Sasikumar’s character
was all about. The character does
not know how to remain understated
or to maintain what others would
call a dignified silence. His presence
can never be ignored and you can
be sure that he is never going to
take anything lying down. Sasikumar
exuded this aura of a man who would
stop at nothing to do what he wanted
to, throughout Nadodigal. The pulse
of the character was never lost
eve for a brief while.
A film does not need a separate
comedian to provide humor; Bharani
proved it with his performance
in Nadodigal. He was as much a
central character as all the others
in the group of friends. The things
that he did too were not forced
comic acts to make us laugh. But,
his character had a lighter side
in itself. It reminded us of persons
whom we knew in real life whose
normal activities itself would
make us laugh. They had their
own uniquely funny way of doing
things, their thought process
would be quite different from
the rest of us and they would
always say the most obvious thing
with the air of making an important
announcement. In short, not too
many people took them seriously.
Bharani played one such character
to great effect.
