For sheer commitment to a character,
Arya is definitely one of the top
performers of Tamil cinema this
year. It would have undoubtedly
taken immense toil, self-restraint
and faith to keep that mesh of hair
on oneself for more than two years.
Add to that, all those yoga poses
without having time to properly
train, adapting to the body language
of Aghoris and letting go of a possibly
rich period in his career to make
Rudran come alive, Arya has definitely
made his mark as a performer and
professional on whom the industry
can depend upon to pull off just
about any kind of role that is thrown
at him.
Everyone who has seen Naan Kadavul
will be convinced about the justness
of this choice. The sheer effort
that went into the performance
is evident from what was seen
on screen. But, more than the
effort, it is the result that
matters. It is an understatement
to say that Pooja transformed
herself into a daughter of the
streets, the blind beggar who
sings from her heart for the coins
that people toss at her. There
is nothing more to elaborate on
this performance, it has to be
seen to be believed.
