In Sethu, Vikram played a college kid who was tough and prickly on the outside but was soft and gooey on the inside. His attempts to woo the gentle heroine, Abithagujambal in his peculiar rough and tumble style scares her initially but gradually she is won over by his persistence and salt of the earth character. Unfortunately, their love was doomed but nevertheless it is one of the most beautiful love stories ever. And the scene where Sethu breaks into an impromptu song and dance routine in an exuberant celebration of love is one of his best onscreen moments.
