Mayakkam Enna with its memorable characters – Karthik Swaminathan (Dhanush) and Yamini (Richa) in the lead was a mature love story that forced the viewers to come to terms with the ugly side of romance. The film’s message is that where love is concerned, one cannot expect smooth sailing and must be prepared to ride out the storm if one expects to reap the benefits. Yamini was a devoted wife and never lost faith in her husband, even when he chose to give up on himself.
