Hey Ram was the victim of vicious attacks levied against it by a number of extremists within our democracy. It was vilified for hurting public sentiment and showing the Father of the Nation in bad light. Protests were held throughout the country, screens were burnt down or pelted with stones and even the audience was attacked in places.
