Music Director: Vijay Antony

If there was a scale that indicated popular appeal for an album, this one might rank very close to the top. This was the quintessential ‘Vijay’ (in two ways) album. Ilaya Thalapathy had not got such a wonderful group of songs to shake his leg to for around 2 years, Velayudham ended the drought. The album was delightful for all fans. You had everything that a Vijay movie demanded; the energetic intro, a couple of fast paced duets (one of which had Vijay Anthony’s signature word play; ‘Chillax’) and a sentimental finish. Of course, there was the heroic sounding theme as well. And, he did spring a surprise through the melodious ‘Molachu Moonu’. Designed to make Vijay fans have great fun watching their idol move and groove, this album hit the bull’s eye.
