If there was ever a misunderstanding for which we are thankful, it must be the one between Mani Ratnam and Ilayaraja. This is not to say that the combination was unbearable, on the contrary they produced some of the most memorable hits of all times. The reason why this misunderstanding sometimes seems providential is that it paved the way for the introduction of A.R. Rahman in Roja.
