A victory for Maattrraan

Feb 28, 2013

Back in the 1980s and 90s, it was even difficult to make a double action film. Cinematographers covered one half of the lens with black sheet and would shoot the scene with the exposed part. Then they would rewind the film, cover the other half and shoot the same scene with the actor playing another character.

Things became easier when digital cinema was introduced. Anybody and everybody could do double action films. But, the hungry KV Anand, went a step ahead and explored techniques in making a film on conjoined twins. Maattrraan required high budget and even higher thinking, planning and physical work, to materialize.

Now, all the work invested by KV Anand and his team has paid off. The film has received the EME award for the Best VFX in an Indian feature film category. Visual Effects Supervisor Srinivas Mohan received the award for his amazing work in the film.

EME Awards aka Excellence in Media & Entertainment [EME] Awards presented by INFOCOM – ASSOCHAM, is an annual International competition that recognizes the highest talent in Animation & VFX.
