Kollywood ends its fast !
Mar 19, 2013The three unions of the Tamil industry, namely the Producers, Directors and Actors, assembled together this morning at Valluvar Kottam to hold a silent protest and a hunger strike in a bid to show their support to the TN Government’s demand to the Centre to cut all trade ties with Sri Lanka with regard to the alleged war crimes subjected upon Sri Lankan Tamils.
The who’s who of the industry were present today including Balu Mahendra, Sarath Kumar, Gautham Menon, A.R. Murugadoss, Pandiraj, Ameer, Shankar, K.V. Anand, Ilayaraja, Jayam Ravi, Srikanth just to name a few from the gathering.
The peaceful hunger strike concluded this evening with Balu Mahendra and Sarath Kumar handing out juices. The members were hopeful that a positive resolution will transpire with the talks being scheduled in Geneva. Ameer said, despite the outcome of the talks, the union will continue to stand behind the human rights cause.
He also said that the entire protest would not have been possible without the support of the Tamil Nadu Government.
