While Tamil film industry sees a steady stream of new face heroines, those who make it to the top are less. Similarly, the year 2011 saw more than 50 heroines making an entry into Kollywood. However, only a handful of them have made it to 2012. Let’s see who are they and who among them will rule Kollywood in 2012
This bubbly actress who entered Kollywood with Maapillai went on to make most of it. She had three releases in the year 2011 including Engeyum Kadhal and Velayudham. The year 2012 started off with a bang. With the success of Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, she is surging ahead and her hands are full with films like Settai, Vettai Mannan and Vaalu.
Shruti’s debut as a heroine in Tamil was in 7 am Arivu with Surya and her character Suba Sreenivasan evoked mixed responses. However, Aishwarya Dhanush directed 3, brought out the actress in her pretty well and this Dhansuh starrer has helped her cement her aspirations in Tamil. With her Gabbar Singh doing extremely well in Telugu, we can pin more hopes on her.
The Ko girl’s Tamil debut was a dream one for many. The film Ko starring Jiiva in the lead did extremely well at the box office. The wise girl she is, Karthika did not jump on to grab opportunities. She has now two films in her hand. She is the heroine in Bharatiraja’s Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum and she also pairs up with Vishal for a Sundar C’s Madha Gaja Raja.
Her Tamil debut, Aadukalam with Dhanush, went on to fetch 6 National awards. While everybody associated with the film were basking in the glory, her next with Jiiva, Vandhan Vendraan did not live up to the expectation. Meantime the actress went on to do films in Telugu and now we know that she is all set to make a strong come back. She is currently doing Marandhen Mannithen and is also part of Vishnuvardhan’s untitled Ajith film, which will go on floors by end of this month.
Pranitha entered Kollywood with Arulnidhi starrer Udhayan. Though the film did not make an impact, this Bengaluru girl is hopeful that her next, Saguni with Karthi will give her the much required stardom.
Bindhu Madhavi’s heroine dream in Tamil came true through Veppam, which received mixed response. She went on to do Kazhugu with Krishna and received some appreciation for her rustic role. Though we were expecting to see a stellar performance from her in Neer Paravai, her date issues played spoilsport and there are no immediate releases for her in Tamil.
Avan Ivan gave a break to Janani Iyer and she excelled in her police character as Baby. Her next is Paagan with Srikanth and is expected soon. Let’s wait and watch how she fares in this flick.
