As much as we are non-experimental about stories and so on, not too many of our actors experiment with looks. While most of them play in home turf when it comes to hairstyling there are a few who dared to push the hair envelope. Here are a few:

While it was almost a decade away Aamir Khan made the messy, tousled, fresh-out-bed hair popular in Dil Chahta Hai, the style seems to have achieved a cult status. Suriya posed the same in Aadhavan.

The versatile Vikram spiked and even colored his hair to achieve the uncouth look for his Rajapattai.

Ajith is synonymous with his style and he sported spikes for the Saran directed Aasal in 2010.

Although Dhanush and Simbhu appear intermittently in movies with spiked hairstyle (Dhanush in Mayakkam Enna and Simbhu in the Love Anthem video), they are yet to appear in an experimental hairstyle throughout a movie.
