Bharat Bhushan has not just won a reality show but is also in love, so lets gear up for the most awaited comedy of the year, the sequel to an indie superhit, Bheja fry. With the first movie gaining more than 10 times its budget a sequel was always on the cards, but the most important part is whether the sequel can live upto the huge expectation. Very rarely does a sequel stand on its own and in most cases sequels just embarrass themselves. Can Bheja Fry 2 do it? Can one of the most loved characters of all time rework the magic?

The story is about an innocent idiot Bharat Bhushan(Vinay Pathak) who wins a reality show and gets a free ticket in a cruise. He is also eyeing the assistant producer of the show Miss. Ranjani (Minissha). But a rich industrialist Ajit Talwar (Kay Kay Menon) thinks he is a spying tax inspector who is in the cruise to arrest him for tax evasion. So he decides to kill him, only to land up on a deserted island with him by his side.  What happens next forms the rest of the story.

The story is a bit more complex than a fool for dinner concept, but except that the rest of the settings remains the same. The fool does make you smile, laugh and make the rest of the characters laugh at him too but the innocence and freshness that made the prequel such a big hit is missing. The first half is jam packed with activities and keeps you hooked only to lose it completely in the second. Sagar Ballary impresses as a director but not as a story teller. The point where Kay Kay asks Vinay to stay where he is and to stop talking for 2 minutes makes you laugh no end.

Vinay Pathak impresses once again as Bharat Bhushan, and is one of the main reasons why the movie is watchable. Mr. Dependable - Kay Kay Menon is as always efficient in getting into the character and doing complete justice to his role and the movie. Minissha Lamba looks cute and has acted somewhat. Suresh Menon hits one out of the park with a brilliant portrayal of a strict tax inspector, if only he had used more Malayalam it would have looked even better. And a brilliant cameo from Amol Gupte makes a lasting impression.

With a better budget the movie looks much better than its prequel. It has good and efficient cinematography by Parixit Warrier and effective editing by Suresh Pai. The background music by Sagar Desai could have been a bit better, as in most places it just doesn't gel well with the proceedings. Dialogues by Sharat Kateria is witty but not impressive throughout.

Overall, with love, laughter and simple idiotism Bheja fry 2 impresses you in parts. If only it had a tighter second half and more gags it could have been special.

Verdict: A decent comedy with impressive star-cast
