The
title catches your attention
the first time you hear it.
Who is Murugesan and what is
a ‘Vedigundu’ doing
in his name. At the outset,
Vedigundu Murugesan looks like
a ‘battle of the sexes’.
But, it may not be as serious,
it may just be a clash of personalities.
The film is about two characters
who are not very common in our
society; that is not to say
that they are rare or

special. It is just that one is unlikely
to see a policewoman or a lorry driver with
a deep interest in books every day. Yes,
that is what the lead characters are.
Pasupathy is Murugesan, a driver who is
interested not only in the steering wheel
and roads, but also in literature. Of course,
he is no professor, but his interest is
genuine. He is by nature a happy go lucky
guy, who never takes anything in life too
seriously. Jyothitrmayee is a policewoman.
She is poles apart from Murugesan, she can’t
accept even the slightest of liberties.
Orderliness and discipline are paramount
for her. What happens when two such characters
are put together on the same frame? Sparks
may fly and that is where the ‘Vedigundu’
might have come from.
It might sound like a laughathon, but is
has also got some emotions and sentiments
in the right mix. Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu
will be one of the major highlights of the
movie, adding to the comic quotient.
Director Moorthy is very happy with the
way the movie has come out. He has said
that he got all his first choice of actors
to act in this movie. With comedy, sentiments
and an unusual storyline to go along with
it, Vedigundu Murugesan can be a blast at
the theaters for those who love to have
a good time. |
