screenplay writer and director K Bhagyaraj
would be relieved to see his son on the
silver screen this Friday as his directorial
venture Siddu +2 will be released after
a long time. Due to various issues, the
movie had been in the cans for a while and
is finally being distributed by Moser Baer.

has Shanthnoo and Chandini in lead roles
with the director himself with Rajesh and
Ganja Karuppu in supporting roles. |

The movie is about Siddu, who finds it tough to pass
in his school exams. In spite of his father (Rajesh)
being the principal of the school that he studies in,
he fails in subjects every now and then. Matters become
worse when Siddu gets insulted in front of others and
he attempts suicide. Accidentally, he meets Chandini,
who, more or less, is in the same situation as Siddu
is. The two then become friends, friendship becomes
love and they drop the idea of losing their lives. Does
Shanthnoo's love succeed with Chandini's family's consent?
Does he eventually pass in his exams? This is Siddu
+2 in short. The story has a twist too, claims Bhagyaraj,
who has taken care of the screenplay, dialogues and
the direction of this movie. The story of Siddu has
been written by Krishna Da Vinci.
When it is K Bhagyaraj donning the director’s
cap, there is sure to be some interesting interweaving
of all emotions and a surety of intricate nuances being
taken care of. Chandini’s debut in Siddu +2 has
her in a bubbling role and she, according to sources,
has perfectly fit into the character of innocence of
a naïve girl who comes from a small town. People
who watched the trailer can say with confidence that
Shanthnoo looks every bit like his father. It reminds
us of Bhagyaraj's earlier hit movies like Mouna Geethangal,
Indru Poi Naalai Vaa etc. Shanthnoo's get-up and mannerisms
looked very similar to his father. If 40% were imitations
of his father, 60% of his style suits today's generation
with urban clothes, accessories et al.
Exotic locations carefully selected in Chennai, Palani
and Hyderabad and the song sequences on the beaches
of Bangkok are sure to appeal to the masses. Dharan’s
‘Poove Poove' is pleasing to listen to and another
song, which is a remix of the hit 'Naan aalana Thaamarai....',
is also interesting. The editing department has been
headed by Subash and camera has been wielded by Rasamathi.
Being a popular face after his Taxi song, Shanthnoo
is banking heavily on Siddu +2. With an array of movies
releasing this weekend, Siddu +2 would be watched closely
by many as it is directed by K Bhagyaraj and has a promising
actor in the lead. Siddu’s +2 result can only
be known after the opening weekend. Let us wait and
watch! |
