Recently director Kannan has to deny news about Vandhaan Vendraan being the remake of the Bollywood romcom I Hate Luv Storys. Kannan said it's his original story and that he's not inspired by any other sources. This must have been because Kannan's earlier film Kanden Kadhalai with Bharath and Tamannah in the lead was indeed the remake of the hit Bollywood movie Jab We Met.
Jiiva plays a professional boxer, who falls in love with an industrialist’s daughter, Tapasee. Tapasee's character is that of an American return girl whose values are rooted in Indian tradition. This is Tapasee's film after her hugely popular role as Irene for the national award winning Aadukalam.
Vandhaan Vendraan is produced by K.Seenivasan for the banner Vasan Visual Ventures. The music is scored by Thamman and lyrics are by Thamarai, Madhan Karky and Yughabharathy. The movie was shot in and around India and abroad with 70% of the shoot schedules having been held in Mumbai. The song sequences were shot in Goa and Turkey.
Kannan is known to direct sensible commercial entertainers with his earlier films. Vandhaan Vendraan's stills look promising and the story line, as revealed by him partly, has potential to be a decent entertainer if it's spruced up in the hands of Kannan.
